With a combined 60+ years of legal experience, Ken Harris and Bob Bedore will collaborate, as they have for the past 14 years, to provide the highest quality tax counsel and advice to their clients both in tax controversy and tax planning matters. Firm Prevails in Jury Trial of Pro Bono Matter
The Firm, in partnership with the Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights under Law, represented an African-American individual alleging claims of racial discrimination associated with his employment at a local restaurant. The plaintiff prevailed in a jury trial in the Northern District of Illinois and was awarded not only all the past and future wages claimed, but was also awarded punitive damages. Daniel Dorfman and Alexander Rozett were pleased to work with the Chicago Lawyer’s Committee in handling the matter.
Robert Harris Appointed to AAA Roster of Neutrals
After having served as an arbitrator in a series of high stakes arbitrations over the past several years, Robert Harris has been appointed to the American Arbitration Association’s Regional Roster of Neutrals. The American Arbitration Association (AAA), which is the nation's leading provider of alternative dispute resolution services, selected Mr. Harris based on his outstanding qualifications, accomplishments and reviews from the prior arbitrations. The Firm’s attorneys represented a publicly traded international hotel chain in connection with the drafting and negotiating of all design, consulting and construction agreements for the development of a hotel and resort in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where the costs of construction were estimated to be in excess of $300 Million. The representation involved close coordination with local Brazilian counsel and successful navigation of cultural and language barriers.
Firm's Attorneys Contribute to IICLE Publication
Jeffrey Winick, John-Paul Lujan and Jeffrey Charkow have recently published a chapter entitled Claims for Disruption/Loss of Productivity for the IICLE® Construction Law Library devoted to the litigation of construction disputes. Mr. Charkow made a presentation involving these issues at the IICLE Critical Issues in Construction Litigation seminar in October 2013.
